Once again I need some help with a translation … of a sentence in French.

It´s regarding the commemoration of Gurney's Sugarbird Promerops gurneyi VERREAUX 1871.

In its Type description (attached) it clearly says:

"Cette espèce, dont nous possédons depuis plusieurs années deux exemplaires dans notre collection, et à laquelle nous nous faisons un plaisir d´imposer le nom de Promerops gurneyi, nous avait été offerte par ce savant ami qui les avait reçus de Mr. Ayres."

With only limited knowledge (close to none!) of French I hope that any of you guys "out there" feel like translating this quote for me!? If so, please as accurate as possible, as I would like to quote it myself in Swedish. And don´t hesitate to remark on any errors that I might have done transcribing it.

Mr. John Henry Gurney described birds sent from Natal by Thomas Ayres in the Ibis.

… commemorates the well-known English banker, politician and amateur ornithologist John Henry Gurney (1819–1890), one of the founders of BOU (British Ornithologists Union).
