Definition of a bird-day (1 Viewer)

Can anybody give me the official definition of a bird-day?

I not talking about a day out birding, what I mean is the sort of thing you see in bird reports, e.g there were 10 Common Sandpiper bird-days.

So, if I had the following set of records, how many bird-days are there:

15/05 2 Common Sandpipers
16/05 3 Common Sandpipers
18/05 1 Common Sandpiper
20/05 1 Common Sandpiper
21/05 2 Common Sandpipers

is it 5 bird-days, 9 bird-days or something else entirely??

Thanks a lot

Colin

i would say 5 bird days

I would clasifiy a bird day as when you either go birding all day or going birdin in te morning not just deiving to the shopping centre and seeing buzzard but actually purposely going somewhere
