it's been over a year since i last posted on here :(
due to work and family comitments.

it feels good to be back walking around me old patch Elvaston casle,
i have spend most of this bank holiday down there saturday i put in a 12 hour shift :)
seen some good birds this weekend
i thought i had seen a red kite (as it flew over i could see the v in its tail feathers i lost sight of it as it flew towards the the wooded area just before the cricket ground )


Buzzards, (flying over the castle)
green wood peckers (by the cricket ground and grave yard)
wood pigeon magpies crows (car park)
nuthatch (by the off shoot of water car park and the main walking path)
black headed gulls, mute swans, C/Gease and malards (main body of water)
tree creapers (by the old water wheel)
Shoveler and tuffed ducks (far side of the main body of water)
pie wagtail (on the wall out side of the shop/ cafe)
green finch, chaffinch,blue tits great tits around the church and in the reserve.
grey herons and long tailed tits (by the bridge)
6 lapwings (by the river)
cormerants flew over (just as i was going into the woods)
kestral (over the large grassed area)
little ringed plover (saturday only, in the reserve)
more hens and coots (all over the site)

great crested greab (by the first hid in the reserve)
little greab on the same streach off water

i took well over 500 photos of different thing mainly birds
i will up load some when i figure out how to do it

short visit today

just a short trip down to the castle today
mainly to wear the kids out 6 weeks holidays and all

we stayed around the main field for an hour or so before we had a quick walk around for a coffee.

birds seen:

wood pigeon magpies crows (car park)
blue tits, great tits and nuthach by the feeder next to the ar park.
few mallard just behind the main car park

swans, mallards, coots, moore hens, C/geese and black headed gull on the main body of water.

grey herons, long tail tits, blue tits, and great tits on the bridge

black birds and black headed gulls by the castle.

two Jays by the old water wheel.

im going to walk the derwent at the weekend starting at cricket ground then around Elvaston castle and start the river walk from brorrowwash walking towards Derby as far as i can get.

i will post any sighting Sunday or monday
