I volunteer for a small local rehab organization called Soarin' Hawk, and tonight was our monthly board meeting.
Tonight we had a small but special guest: one of our 'education' birds, Wolfgang the gray-phase Eastern Screech Owl!
He's been a part of Soarin' Hawk for at least 2 or 3 years -- I don't know his full story, but after rehab was unreleaseable, so has been 'trained' to be used in educational presentations.
He came in tonight to have his picture taken with our new president for inclusion with the president's report in our next newsletter.
He's such a well-behaved young man that he stayed out during the meeting, paying more attention than a couple of the board members! He had the final comment, however, when at the conclusion of a discussion about an inventory project, he shared his opinion about the goings-on by pooping on the agenda.
Most of my volunteer work with the group has been in governance and fundraising, so my chances to be aruond 'our' birds are fairly few and far between. So you can imagine what a treat this was for me tonight.
I'd like to believe he even winked at me a couple of times! LOL! Sure wish I had a photo of him and the ability to post it!
