wanted to visit St Bee'sthis week - anyone know if the sea bird colony is still active or have they fledged?

Any other good reserves to visit on the way from East Lancs...Cumbria Wildlife Trust reserves would be a great bonus..

Would love to hear how you get on, I will be staying that way at the end of Aug.

There is a nice looking RSPB reserve at Millom which has a Tern colony there plus looks good for waders.

Hi

I missed the last reserve sadly. We saw Gannet, quite a few Guillemots still on ledges which will probably go fledge soon. We saw two Razorbills, a distant Puffin and 0 Black Guillemots. We saw Peregrine twice, Ravens and still lots if Kittiwakes. Lots of Linnet, quite a few Stonechat and some Whitethroat. Not to forget a Rock Pipit.

It was an extremely beautiful day and a bit of a hike.
We did not know it was quite a walk to get to the viewing platforms. My friend was not well so did not want to over gm do it. A very beautiful day and a stunning place.

Hi

Thanks for the info, I may give it a miss as I will have 4 year old in tow, she can walk a fair distance but not quite up to hiking yet.
