Some maps of the area suggest that the easternmost (smaller) reservoir is separated from its neighbour. It looks like this may once have been the case, but on my visit, the two stretches of water were merged into one.
The reservoirs showed much promise, particulary (and not surprisingly I suppose) as a wildfowl roost, and also has plenty of Gull interest. I understand that just about anything that likes to swim can be found there.
However whilst the main attraction, the water is not the only habitat of interest. There is a small hedgerow that runs alongside the eastern end of the resrs., and the surrounding farmland.
Redwing (just 1, and not the BF member!) and a couple of Partridge were present on the day of my visit.
Access is via a track to the "Fisherman's Car Park" to the south east side of the resrs. immediately north of a hump-backed bridge (Beever's Bridge Grid Ref:SE662189) spanning the Aire and Calder Navigation Canal.
