IF Steiner for ducks from shore (1 Viewer)

Robert Ellis

Larus marinus
There is a pair of Steiners military/marine porros in the family that I have been trying to find a good use for. They stay in focus from about 17-18 yards to the horizon once set so I think I will try them out for looks at passing Great Lakes migrants in the next coming months. I have a hard time getting the fly-bys in the scope. Individaul focus would not be ideal in the woods, but for this activity I see little concern. Not to mention that the Steiners are made to withstand maritime uses.

Robert,

I have a pair of Steiner 15x80 porros that are also IF (common with Steiners, I think) and great for poor light and such viewing as you suggest. Mind I find my recent Leica 12x50s as good, so use the Steiners less now!

Graham.
