Hi,

I am getting a good offer on Olympus 10x50 DPS. I already have a pair of 8X32 Japanese bins. Would the difference in performance [reach] be worth the upgrade? Suggestions, please.

The difference in reach is less than one initially thinks. The extra magnification provides a larger image scale which can make IDs quicker in extreme conditions but does not really let you "see" farther. The larger objective increases resolution a tiny bit, IMHO the increase objective size is only there to retain a 5mm exit pupil. To paraphrase one of my favorite Steve Ingraham of BVD quotes, if 7x or 8x is not enough, 10x won't be enough either, you need a scope.

Which Japanese bins have you got?

I dont know cause I cant read Japanese :)
The bins seem to be Military Field Glasses actually 8X40 [Wide Angle 9°] and do their job pretty OK.
