Hallo,

1. October I was on penisula Darss which is 250 km in north of Berlin.
60.000 cranes migrates over this area from end of September until November ( peak is middle of October ).
This area is located in the nationalparc Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft.
The nationalparc is the most important winterplace for waterbirds in the whole Baltic Sea area.

Wonderful place

Hi Keith,

indeed this penisula is a good spot, also the beaches are very nice.
But the best was the weather, which I did not expect in this time.
We have sun and between 18 - 24 centigrads since 1. October. It will not change until friday said the weatherforecast.
White Tailed Eagles I saw only 1 until end of August. From end of August I saw them every weekend. Also Kingfisher and Great Egret appears every weekend since end of August.

Best regards
Dieter

Linum

Hi Jurek,

Linum is also a good spot for cranes.
In Brandenburg is the unique breeding place for Red-crested Pochard.
In late spring also lots of Pochards was there ( only 20 m away ).
This place is very near Berlin and is easy reachable with car.

Best regards
Dieter
