Two magnificent pelicans visited the lake on our property recently. They come regularly to feed on tiny gambusi fish.
Sometimes you get lucky.
Without realising it, whilst focusing on the pelicans, I also got the Cape Barren Geese family of 8 (see yesterday's posting) on the far bank, a plover on the island bank, two kinds of wild duck, and a moorhen - in the same frame.
They are all residents on our property - nesting, coming and going as they please. ( In one of the pics you can see the sheep grazing in the paddock).
They are not fed by us and it is some kind of miracle how all these creatures seem to have created their own sustainable environment.
All we did was dig a big hole, the water came, and then the rest just followed.
