More on me
3
I have a few minutes, so here's a bit more about me, in case anyone is interested.
I started birding when I was ten years old (28 years ago). My family moved to a house on the edge of town next to a large river. Previously we had lived in the city. I immediately started seeing birds like Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and various warblers (it was spring), and I was fascinated because I never knew that such birds existed.
The neighbors across the street were birders, and my mother suggested that I go over and ask them about the birds I was seeing, which I did. They invited me to come along with them to a nearby bird-banding station, and I accepted. I was fascinated AGAIN by what I saw, and it was apparent, because one of the banders, Thomas Ellis, called my parents and told them that he would take me out to the banding station any weekend I wanted to go if they would bring me to his house. That's what I did every weekend during migration until I graduated from High School.
Well, that was how it all started. I have been working at Sand Bluff Bird Observatory since I was ten years old (less a few years in the USMC including service in Desert Storm, and a year of college). I now have my own Master Permit for my own research, especially at my MAPS station in Northern Wisconsin, where my father is from. I encourage anyone who is interested to take a look at my website. I should have some new photos up tonight or tomorrow.
Other than that, people can always check out my profile at Yahoo.com, which is
[email protected]. That's about all I have to say about that.
Thank you for the nice comments!
