Has anyone tried out the 8.5 X 44 Kowa XD 44 range from Kowa. Can't seem to see any reviews on the internet but from the spec I got form Warehouse express they look quite promising. See below.

Utilising their Prominar ED technology in four of the lens elements, Kowa have created the brilliant new Prominar XD44. With magnification of 8.5x or 10.5x, these 44mm objective lens binoculars are quite simply incredible. A beautifully balanced magnesium alloy body is covered with slip proof coatings giving the robustness necessary to cope with use in extreme conditions.

• Prominar ED optics in four key lens elements gives superb image integrity
• Light, durable magnesium body for robustness
• High refractive index roof prism for extraordinary contrast and edge to edge sharpness
• Close focus to 1.7m (5.5ft)
• Wide field of view
• Lockable diopter adjustment on eyepiece
• 10% brighter than 42mm optics
• Fully multi-coated optics for outstanding light transmission
• C3 coating technology maximises the reflectivity of the opticl elements to increase light transmission
• Waterproof and dry nitrogen filled
• Twist-up, click-stop eyecups
• Superbly balanced to give hours of stable viewing pleasure

I think they're called 'Genesis' in the USA, rather than 'XD' (why do manufacturers keep doing this ? don't they know we all use the internet ?) so you might find review under that name.
Good luck
John
