I am totally new to birding. My plan is to start with British birds from 1 January 2007, but as I am off on a world tour I might as well look out for interesting birds on the way.
First points of call are Madeira and the Cape Verde Islands. What should I be looking out for?
Alan
I don't suppose there is a good small pocket-sized guide to all the birds of the world!

Buy or borrow a copy of Tony Clarke's new field guide Birds of the Atlantic Islands, will show you everything you will see and everything you might.

Madeira Islands

I visited Madeira in July, and used this local guides Madeira Wind Birds they are very good, great experience for me.
