The field guide to use is : A Field Guide to Birds of The Gambia and Senegal by Barlow et al.

There are lots of hot spots but to be honest you would be better using the services of a local guide -both to navigate ( & get to) the best bird sites but also to stop yourself getting hassle from well-meaning locals & from hustling bumsters.
Check out this web site for further info: www.gambianbirds.com

Notice Amazon are selling a 'Birds of the Gambia and Senegal' as well as a 'Field Guide to the Gambia and Senegal', both by Clive Barlow et al and showing the same cover.

Presumaby these are one and the same book - guessing the difference being the publishing company?
