John, on behalf of admin and all the moderators, welcome to Bird Forum.
I can't answer your question, as I've only visited the Greek part of Cyprus, but I hope that someone here will be able to help you. There's usually someone around who will know the answer.
As a rough guess, I would imagine that the birds would be pretty much as you would get in southern Cyprus, although I'm not sure of the terrain in the northern part. Quite mountainous, I think.

Hi John. Before you go to northern Cyprus, please consider how many Cypriots (Greek and Turkish) were refugees after the Turkish invasion of 1974. You are obviously free to make your own decision as to where you can on holiday, but please take the time to find out about the political situation in Northern Cyprus. I know a lot of people, including all of my family, who lost their homes and their way of life in July 1974. Sorry if it sounds like I am preaching, I just wanted to highlight what is often overlooked when people consider visiting northern Cyprus. Wherever you choose to go, I hope you have a lovely time! I personally would recommend southern Cyprus 
or Kefalonia.
