Was just looking through some dowdy old moth pics and came across this, photographed on 3 Oct in Wandsworth.

Looks to me like a Spruce Carpet - any views?

Looks like a Grey Pine Carpet to me, but I don't see enough Spruce Carpets to know how variable they are,

That was my first thought, but the Spruce Carpet looked closer in my guide - haven't come across either before.

Not a very good specimen...
 
Colin's right Andrew, it's a GPC. A good pointer is the size of the 'teardrop' marking on the wing which extends below the other similar marks which reach to the dorsal edge of the wing. On GPC it is deeper than it's neighbouring ones.
