Spoon-billed bird facing extinction (1 Viewer)

Prevent Extinction!

I read the story and for the want of a few wardens we may lose this lovely bird.

I really hope BirdLife can attract a Species Champion for it.

BirdLife and the Spoon-billed Sandpiper recovery team are trying to raise $60,000 to fund the next two year's work. This amount would fund and support wardens at three sites, and would pay for surveying and monitoring of existing populations. It would also contribute to the costs of the advocacy work in lobbying governments etc. These birds are in REAL trouble. If this decline continues they are not going to be around in 10 years. BirdLife has launched the Preventing Extinctions Initiative and is looking for companies, institutions and people to become species champions. Alternatively, you can donate to this initiative. For more info see www.birdlife.org

Best of luck with the fundraising.

It is not a great deal of money in the grand scheme of things.
