micro taperecorder

Posted Saturday 2nd May 2009 at 22:34 by silvercrest
the other week i bought a micro taperecorder for £25 and i use it for listing the birds i see (or hear) when im out birdwatching. it is not much bigger than a mobile phone and it sits nicely in my pocket with plenty of room to spare. it beats struggling with pen and pad. the only drawback is i forget what birds ive said ive already seen, i feel a bit of a twit talking into it when people are around, and being small, it would be expensive if i lost it. but i wouldnt be without it now.

I have done this before but using my mobile phone, which has a voice recorder built-in. I've also used it for recording bird sounds - not the highest quality but I did get some reasonable recordings of GS Woodpeckers hammering in the woods at Wrabness.

I actually do the same except I have digital recorder (no Tape). I did feel a little bit like an idiot myself for whispering into it but now I'm not too concerned. I mean hey it's all about appreciating what mother nature has to offer. Who cares what other people think as long as you don't scare the birds away it's all good in my opinion.
