Eurasian collared Dove and others

Posted Monday 11th May 2009 at 04:12 by canadagurl123
I went to Swan Lake this morning in Victoria to do some birdwatching before I volunteered there. In 3 hours I got 54 species including a first for me in my local checklist area: a Eurasian Collared Dove. This species range has expanded rapidly in the last few years. This makes my Victoria list at 275. Other highlights were the first Caspia tern I've seen on the lake and my first Warbling Vireo of the year. There was also a late Northern Shoveler on the lake. Also a Bittern was there. This the only place in Victoria where you can sometimes see the Bittern
Happy birding
