I Heard The Black Swans Cry (1 Viewer)

Above the coastal town I heard the black swans cry
As to their feeding grounds they flew across the sky
To estuary or lake they travelled in the night
It was not a big flock they flew at a great height.

I knew them by their cries their voices a give away
I've seldom seen black swans flying in the light of day
Why this happens to be so ask one other than me
To travel in the night to them comes naturally.

Even on the darkest night they reach their destiny
I even ask myself how this can ever be
How can they make their way without a visible landmark
And reach new feeding grounds on nights stormy and dark.

At Nature's mysteries my wonder only grow
And of Nature's birds and beasts little I seem to know
But every day we live we learn something new
And Nature needs her friends since her friends are too few.

On the flags of the empty streets teenagers roller bladed up and down
And I heard the black swans cry above the moonlit Town
I knew them by their cries birds voices never lie
Towards new feeding grounds they flew across the cold night sky.
