Colin's Bird Diary - 6th November 2007 (1 Viewer)

Tuesday. Ashleworth Ham Nature Reserve on a fine but cool and dry day.

I was unable to find either of the Great Grey Shrikes in spite of intensive searching along Stank Lane to the end of the track. There were hundreds of Fieldfare present with more Redwings than of late and not a few Starling. This is a feature of this autumn in that the numbers of these winter thrushes appear to be high and more noticably are remaining high.

Two Peregrines, two Buzzards and two Stock Doves were along Stank Lane where another feature of this autumn was yet again present. This is the continued presence of flocks of Long-tailed Tits which seem to be especially numerous this season.

On the wet field at the corner of Stank Lane and Ham Road were 35 Snipe and with other counted from the hide, at least 43 of this species were on site. Finally after seeing a Water Pipit here 3 days ago, I caught up with a second one this afternoon.
