This blog is intended to follow my progress this year in my pursuit of obtaining some worthwhile bird photographs.
Very much a beginner, with limited funds but almost unlimited time, I want to capture photographs that are more than mere record shots. I am not expecting many rare or even unusual species, but want to do justice to any bird that cares to pose for me.
Wish me luck and good light.

Rain

The weather isn't very good again today for photography. Rain. Cold. Miserable. I'm having a day off.
It rained yesterday as well, but I did do a bit of photography.
I am pretty pleased with the "set-up" now. Exposure is always the problem (and not just the camera with the weather we've just had!).
I always seem to be getting a bit of under exposure. Nothing that can't be fixed in Photoshop, but a bit annoying. I think I must be operating at the limits of the flash. Having said that, even increasing ISO does not make much difference, so perhaps I need to dial in a couple of stops exposure compensation. I'll try that tomorrow.
I'm pleased to see the long-tailed tits again yesterday. Six of them visited twice. Still no photos, as I was set up for dunnocks and chaffinches on the floor, but it is very promising. They only visit the fat balls, so I might nip out to buy some with insects in, which should tempt them even more.
Ah, well, tempus fugit and so do the birds.
