This blog is intended to follow my progress this year in my pursuit of obtaining some worthwhile bird photographs.
Very much a beginner, with limited funds but almost unlimited time, I want to capture photographs that are more than mere record shots. I am not expecting many rare or even unusual species, but want to do justice to any bird that cares to pose for me.
Wish me luck and good light.

Amazing again!

I haven't seen the Great Spotted Woodpecker for a couple of days, but then again I have been a bit busy and not watching the feeders for long.
The goldfinches are back in force - 14 of them. Only one Greenfinch though.
I spotted a small brown bird on the floor this afternoon, with brown streaks on it. No, it was not a Siskin. When I got the binos on it, it turned out to be - a Redpoll!! Now I never expected that!
It is a close relative of the Siskin, so I'm getting close.
The Brambling is also back and perching for quite long periods, so I should be able to photograph him some time this winter
Later this afternoon, four Long Tailed Tits came to the fat balls.
Oh, and at least two Coal Tits are raiding the sunflower hearts every few minutes.
I am really happy with the way things are going.
Watch this space.

Big arrival of Siskins last weekend, along with Redwing and Fieldfare, only a matter of time before they filter down the country to you :-)
