Went for a walk around Stanley Park yesterday and was delighted to see a pair of Grey Wagtails bobbing around. Was lovely to see the Herons also and even got a sneaky peak at a Goldcrest in a tree hanging over the lake. There was the usual abundance of Great and Blue Tits at the tree stump feeding spot but although I saw a Nuthatch high in the trees, he didn't bother coming to feed. Oh well, a good day.

Another good bird day.

Drove my lovely girlfriend Kate into Preston for an hour long appointment this morning and I took the opportunity to wander around Winckley Square and got some lovely photos of a Jay and an okay Chiffchaff photo. Then we went to Brockholes and amongst other things (tits, heron, housemartins ...) I saw my first pair of Goosanders. A year on the up

Posted Sunday 7th April 2013 at 19:20 by Green Sandpiper
Can't believe its been a month since I last posted, and looking back, its been a month of surprises and improvements. After a slow start to the year, with more lowpoints than highlights, March saw me regain some of the luck that had deserted me, and more importantly regain some of my appreciation of the simpler things.

Bird life should always be more important than bird lists, and I've been guilty of letting my slow start to the year affect my love and wonder of birds in general....
