Spring Is Now In The Green Northlands

On the grassy bank of the old stream buttercups are blooming
bright
And on the ditch by the Bohreen snowdrops in their petals of white
And primroses in their light yellows and bluebells so lovely and blue
Wildflowers that bloom in the Northlands that's just to mention a few.

Add to them the wild daisies and yellow dandelions coming to bloom
And geraniums in the Town gardens scent of a strong natural perfume
In the far northern Countries even...

This Sunny Southern Land

This sunny Southern Land of the Dreamtime the home of wallaby and kangaroo
Of possum, koala and wombat, the pink and gray, the white and the black cockatoo,
The echidna known to some as the spiny anteater and the platypus strange creatures these two
The dingos the wild red dogs of the Outback in small packs their prey they pursue.

In this vast and beautiful Country unrivalled for it's splendid scenery
One might travel perhaps for one's lifetime and all...

The Finnow Flows To The Blackwater

The Finnow flows to the Blackwater through places damp, rushy and green
And memories of what was are fading and I think of the beauty I've seen
When Spring arrived in her new green dress like a beautiful young beauty queen
And white snowdrops bloomed in their thousands on the mossy bank of the bohreen.

The dipper in the stream is singing in fancy his scratchy notes I hear
And when the old hill loses his snow hat one knows warmer weather is near

Bird news from Hungary, Spring 2009

Spring 2009 had brought some exciting birds such as an attempted breeding of Tengmalm's Owl in a nestbox in Northern Hungary and at least 3 different Dalmatian Pelicans, which were seen at many sites over a few weeks.

As there was less rain early spring wetlands were drier this year, which meant White-winged Black Terns haven't stayed for breeding and wader migration was less spectacular.

Nevertheless groups have seen the usual number of interesting species during our...
