The Beauty Of Nature

Posted Monday 13th July 2009 at 01:53 by Francis Duggan
The beauty of Nature is such a splendid thing
In the sunlit Parkland the birds chirp and sing
Young magpies are piping on the sheoak trees
And there is a gentle freshness in the mild Summer breeze.

The tiny willy wagtail try to chase the magpies away
From his place in the Park but despite him they stay
They live in his territory him they don't fear
Not always peaceful in Nature or so 'twould appear.

Though the forecast for tomorrow...

Penhallow

Posted Monday 13th July 2009 at 01:42 by Francis Duggan
Above the undulating hills the welcome swallows fly
And the skylark o'er Penhallow is carolling in the sky
The nearest place to utopia that one might wish to see

Back there in old Duhallow at the dawning of this late November day

His feathers fluffed against the cold the blackbird sits silently
Ahead of him many cold and wet and hungry days from now until the Spring
When with his...

In Nature's Eyes

Posted Monday 13th July 2009 at 01:33 by Francis Duggan
My accent seems too heavy for most to understand
And I'm still seen as a foreigner in this great Southern Land
But in this the Bunurong Homeland there's great beauty to see
And this vast Southern Country is home from home for me.

As I walked up the track through Baxter's land at twilight of a Spring day
Upon a bracken hill from where I walked some eighty metres away
A mob of grey roos they boxed and played in the late evening sunshine
A small...

A post I made recently in regard to birding and other hobbys.

Posted Sunday 12th July 2009 at 05:35 by BirdAdvocate
I have a cat fancier living two doors down from me. He refills the food bowls in his garage often, consequently there are always six or eight cats lounging in his front yard.
His hobby ruined mine. The cats come down here to hunt and kill birds so I had to stop feeding them and take down their nests. The cats leave their scat and spray in my garden and flowerbeds, so I plowed them under. My grand children can't go outside and play because of the filth.
I've taken up a new hobby, cat...
