To Laurie Levy

Posted Thursday 14th May 2009 at 02:02 by Francis Duggan
Duck shooters in L Levy see no good
But Laurie Levy been misunderstood
And without the likes of Laurie as a friend
So many ducks would have a cruel end.

L Levy is the man duck shooters hate
But I think he is absolutely great
He stand between the duck and shooter's gun
And does his outmost best to spoil their fun.

L Levy's actions speak louder than words
From shooters guns he try to save wild birds
And tears of...

The White Winged Chough

Posted Thursday 14th May 2009 at 01:59 by Francis Duggan
At first I thought this has to be a crow
But as she flew white on her wings did show
Upwards to cup shaped mud nest wedged in bough
And then I knew she is the white winged chough.

They are a bit ugly, with it's all black color. Experienced twitchers may not even raise the binocular to take a look at them. I, too, never really gave much attention to them... even though I'm not a twitcher.

There's a lake close to home where a lot of them fish and come to roost every evening. Other...

On Seeing Little Lorikeets

Posted Wednesday 13th May 2009 at 00:43 by Francis Duggan
They looked like African lovebirds that I see
On trees near Dimboola in the Vic Mallee
But then I told myself this cannot be
As African lovebirds in Australia don't live free.

Lit by a shaft of bright April sun shine
On pleasant evening in middle Autumn time
Small green feathered Parrots with red faces and dark bills
On eucalyptus branches uttered high pitched trills.

It took me back to photograph I'd seen
Of little red...
