In Almost Perfect Weather

Posted Monday 7th March 2011 at 23:14 by Francis Duggan
At a table on the sidewalk by a cafe in the town by the sea
Four middle aged women sit chatting enjoying cake and tea
In almost perfect weather around twenty three degrees
With a nice warmth in the sunshine and a gentle breeze
That blows up the hill through the park by the bay
So good to be living on such a nice day
The birds chirp and sing on the blossoming trees
And in the warm air the buzzings of flies and of bees
The voices of birds quite...

Posted Sunday 6th March 2011 at 21:56 by Guillermo Herrera
I am a member of the community of Cinchona de Sarapiqui: bird sanctuary. We had an earthquake Jan08/2009. We will have new housing project somewhere else. But the birds are not moving there. Now we need your help, if you have pictures that you can share, taken in "El Mirador VistaCinchona, please send them. We are trying to make a biological corridor to keep the sanctuary available. Home Sweet Home !!!

Posted Sunday 6th March 2011 at 17:45 by Paulo Boute
Hello !

Just got home from a wonderful trip to Brazil.
I met many nice people & had two chances of going birdwatching with my very good friend Don Jones.
I also presented a lecture at the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club, where I received a scope, a notebook and several pairs of binoculars to be donated to students or young biologists.
I barely can wait until to make the first delivery.

Best Regards to Everyone!

A Little Madness, A Mess of Red-winged Blackbirds

I blog at posterous and was preparing to do a spring migration blog when I was absolutely besieged by red-winged blackbirds today. My feeders were simply overrun. I took some nice pictures with a point and shoot and some video, even added some verse by Elizabeth Browne.

Birding in New Jersey - USA.

Posted Wednesday 2nd March 2011 at 10:41 by Paulo Boute
Hello !

I'm in New Jersey, USA.
I came for a Travel Show and also to present a lecture on Birds of Brazil.
Yesterday, I had a chance to go out for some birding with my host.
We got a some very nice birds such: Fox Sparrow, Tundra Swan, Hooded Merganser and Red-Headed Duck. Being this last one, seen by my host for the first time on that area!
A very interesting fact is: He has birding there for the past 25 years!

Very Best Regards,
...
