Can someone help with a mystery Pipit. The photos below were taken last November at Hannafor – Cornwall. I am familiar with the local Rock and Meadow Pipits, however a group of 5 Pipits grabbed my attention due to their behavior. When spooked, they grouped together and took to a nearby bush (the local Rock and Meadow pipits usually disperse and fly towards the shoreline rocks and weed). The legs were almost black (As Rock Pipit), but had the lighter plumage of the Meadow Pipit. Outer tail feathers showed white, and there appeared to be a dark wing bar above the light wing bars. They also appeared to perch very upright, and had a very different feeling about them. The pictures below are from two separate birds (if you look, you can see both birds in each photo). I have tried to identify them, but have now logged them as pale Rock Pipits, however, I keep going back to the photos for another look. Someone please confirm Rock or Meadow or something else, so I can finally put it to bed.
