Did any of the 'odd' gulls you saw look like the birds inthe pics below?

Yes they did, kind of...........there are a couple of threads in the ID forum from earlier in the year with pictures.
 
Hey Stu

I went back and looked at your threads and what I saw were the two Thayer's Gulls and two 'taimyrensis' Heuglin's Gulls..which many say are just hybrids of Vegae x Heuglin's.

The two pics I have attached are a 'Heuglini' -type Heuglin's..very dark back and quite different primary pattern on the left and a classic Mongolian Gull on the right with the very pale, unstreaked rounded head.

Do you have any pics other thean the ones on your three threads?
 
Hi Sean............I think those are the only pics. Last year I also saw a darker backed 'herring' type with very black wingtips (almost no white at all). I didn't have a decent camera then. No doubt I'll be posting some 'help! what is this Gull?' type threads as this winter progresses......
