Missed opportunities (1 Viewer)

It is really annoying when you have the opportunity to get a shot you would really like, but fate gets in the way. Driving in to town this morning (shopping!) I noticed a bird in a hedge by the side of the road. A beautiful male bullfinch sitting in full view on a nice branch. I couldn't stop, even to point it out to the wife, as there was a car right behind - and I didn't have my camera with me anyway. For a while afterwards, I had the image imprinted on my mind.
At the moment my photography is restricted to the garden, partly by my equipment and partly by the fact that I have not been very lucky in stalking birds. I know I really need to get out and practise more. Perhaps in the spring, when I can take Billie, the wife, with me for walks, I will try to wander around more.
I also had a new visitor to the garden the other day - a male pheasant. He didn't come out far enough to have his photo taken, but I was very pleased to see him, nonetheless.
I have sent off for some poster sized prints of out of focus backgrounds that I want to try out and they should arrive tomorrow. Watch this space!
