Colin's Bird Diary - 23rd October 2007 (1 Viewer)

Slimbridge - Fine, sunny and cool.

The White-fronted Goose flock has increased to 39 birds, 7 (presumably the original 7) are away from the other 32, and one of the latter has a neck collar on it but it was too far away to read. There were 10 Bewick's Swans around the reserve today which is a slight increase. With the forecast easterly winds for most of the rest of the week, both of the above species should increase in number and who knows what else might turn up. A pair of Peregrines were in front of the Holden Tower and giving very close and good views in the excellent light just before lunch. In the Forest of Dean there appears to have been an influx of Redwings as a number of these were noted, before I left for Slimbridge, feeding on Yew berries.
