About us and our upcoming trip to Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula! (1 Viewer)

;)

Well my first entry here; in fact I have not been a member here for long as my interest in birds is relatively new.
Having said that I have always loved wildlife, and was lucky enough to live in Central Africa for 13 years. Great wild areas such as the South Luangwa Park in Zambia and Kenya's Masai Mara were to almost become my back yard.

My new love though is Costa Rica, and I (I mean we - my wife Wendy is like minded) just returned from a three month visit. We are now only a few days away from returning; this time we are visiting the Southern Pacific region, and in particular the Osa Peninsula.

My goals would be to photograph Harpy Eagle, and I really like the look of Blue Grosbeaks (- fantastic colour) and of course Scarlet Macaws.
I'd also like to bag all the reident Trogons; for some reason I find that group of birds really fascinating. We spent hours trying to get these in the Central Highlands ; we did see Violaceous and Slaty =tailed but not the famous Resplendant Quetzal. As the latter doesnt inhabit the area we are visiting we wont be lucky with that bird this time either.

Finally Wattled Bell birds??? I think they are there -someone mailed me; he used to be a guide and tells me he saw 24 in one day!!!

What are our chances of that Harpy? are we mad or dreaming lol

Thats all for now, checkout my site at www.yabbayabba.net for details of our last trip , and please do join us for live blogs from Osa starting on March 17 2010!
Pura Vida!
