Brandon Marsh is a super reserve. I particularly enjoy the woodland walks. During the summer numerous butterflies and dragonflies were seen on these walks giving great views and photo opportunities. Today it was to be Robin, Blackbird, Long-tailed Tits, Bullfinch, Pied Wagtail, Woodpigeon, Carrion Crow, Mistle Thrush and Redwing viewed on the woodland walk, a Cetti's Warbler was heard but not seen.

The reserve has pools, marsh, reedbed, grassland and woodland habitats. Highlight...

Note to self: Keep gloves in rucksack with bins etc!!!

Posted Sunday 8th November 2009 at 23:23 by Pam_m
After a dull and wet start to the day the latter part of the morning improved somewhat, so a trip to Worcestershire Wildlife Trust's, Moors Pools, Upton Warren was just the tonic to brighten the day! The sun shone as we arrived although it was now quite a chilly early afternoon, I should have learnt my lesson from yesterday's Fisheries visit and taken my gloves. The cold weather has arrived this weekend to remind us that Winter is not far away, or Christmas come to think of it, golly what a thought!...

A walk in the sunshine!

Posted Saturday 7th November 2009 at 21:42 by Pam_m
A lovely sunny morning called for a walk so off I went to the local Fisheries! The sun was shining but goodness me it was cool in the shade of the trees, I began to wish I had popped a pair of gloves in my pocket! It was fairly quiet around the Fisheries. I heard a Buzzard twice but unusually did not sight one. Blackbird, Chaffinch, Greenfinch (a flock of 20+), Bullfinch, Blue & Great Tit, Dunnock, Robin, Wren, Song Thrush, Pied Wagtail, Starling B H Gull, Heron and Crow being the species seen....

A lucky one and a one legged Blackbird!

Posted Wednesday 4th November 2009 at 22:12 by Pam_m
Well the lucky one today was the photograph I took of the sunrise this morning at 7.26am! I was amazed to see the Crow that was flying by was seemingly on the moon in my photo! I couldn't have planned it!
Later on in the morning I spotted the one legged Blackbird in the garden. She looks fine! She snatched a small piece of the fish batter that I had put out on the lawn and then hopped to the safety of the conifers to enjoy her fishy breakfast!
