June - An Unforgetable Month!!!

Posted Tuesday 22nd June 2010 at 12:42 by Paulo Boute
Hello!

June will be an unforgatable month!!!
I had superb views of a Jaguar at the Pantanal - Swiming across the river, then, later coming out of the water & watching us - eye to eye - for a while then, climbing a bank & leaving the area...

I will also shall return to Manaus after a couple of years...The purpose: To scout a new Jungle Lodge and also meet friends - Old and new ones...

Then, I will go to Rio to guide for a few days at REGUA......

Posted Wednesday 9th June 2010 at 14:07 by Paulo Boute
Hello!

Just got back from the Pantanal!
What a wonderful trip & What wonderful guests: Three people from Californina and one couple from the East Coast - They were all long time friends.
We had loads of birds at the Pantanal - Plus a special cherry at the top of the cake: A Jaguar!!!
First, we had it swimming, then leaving the water, then, looking at us then, finally, climbing the river bank...

Very Best Regards,

Paulo Boute....

Wonderful Pictures!!!

Posted Wednesday 28th April 2010 at 08:59 by Paulo Boute
Photos! Photos! Photos!

Very few times, I had a guest publishing so many photos about his trips to different parts of the world!!!
I'm talking about Barry Miller. He has some very good pictures. Of course, my favourite ones are the ones for Brazil, as shown at the link, below, covering the Pantanal, Brazilian Southeast and Iguassu Falls.

A VERY RARE BIRD: The Cone-billed Tanager!!!

Posted Friday 16th April 2010 at 12:47 by Paulo Boute
Hello!

Great News: One of the rarest birds in Brazil & the world can be found at the state of Mato Grosso.
The Cone-billed Tanager was a big mistery for almost a century since, it was first collected. After that, no one could see it in the wild !
Last year, it was found in Mato Grosso.
I'm glad that about 20 years ago, I was the first birder to go to this same region & started to spread the world how how birdy & promising the area is. Just like...

The Double-toothed Kite

Posted Tuesday 13th April 2010 at 10:47 by Paulo Boute
Today, I would like to share with you a personal observation done by Thomas Sigrist, on his book: "Birds of Brazil".
He says he had seen the Double-toothed Kite, following a group of monkeys, the reason would be the fact the monkeys where scaring cicadas. But, at a certain moment the monkey stopped for some rest. The Kite, then, started chasing the monkeys, trying to force them to continue moving thru. the branches!!!
That would be something wonderful to see!!!
