Thought it was a Great Spotted Woodpecker

Why I should think the dreadful screeching noise was a GSW I don't know but I knew the chicks did make a lot of noise. Yesterday I stood at a distance trying to see a juvenile stuck to a tree or perhaps a few of them in their nest, couldn't see a thing.
Stood for nearly an hour thinking that's what I have to do and my patience will be rewarded, then I started thinking what shall I cook for tea and a cup of tea would be nice, I then realised that I had lost the plot and came home. Nothing...

Large flock of finches on Nefyn Golf Course

In the last few days I've noticed a large flock of finches on the above golf course. They mainly consist of Chaffinches but also see quite a number of Linnets, feeding on seeded Thistles were juvenile Goldfinches.
The Linnets tended to stick together taking to the sky and swirrling round back and forth together.
The chaffinches were either deep in a patch of seeded weeds and then fly right inside some Scot Pine trees and was near on impossible to seperate them. I'm mostly with my...
