It's now over three months since I caught the birding bug and a good 10 weeks since I started this blog recording my travails, so I thought it would be rather timely to review the last few months and see how I've done, what I've learnt and what areas I can highlight that need improving.
The last few months have been very enjoyable and I feel that I have taken to birding like a duck to water… (groan!! Sorry!) Most weekends when I'm not working I try and get out for at least a few...

After a few weeks of getting into the groove, it's become very apparent to me that I have certain strengths and weaknesses when it comes to my birding knowledge and techniques. Here's a quick run-down of them:
Strengths- Knowledge of a good number of species of birds already, such as
- Thrushes
- Ducks
- Most garden birds
- Corvidae
- Swallows, swifts and martins
- woodpeckers
Weaknesses- Glaring lack of knowledge of bird songs and calls
- Lack of patience!
- Fieldcraft
- Warblers
- Waders
- non-gull
