Well my big birding weekend was certainly very succesful, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Over the course of the two day, I managed to see a total of 55 species which, when you compare it to my life list of 66 species before the weekend, is not bad going at all. In total, seven new lifers for me taking the total to 73. Also, there were a good number of additions to my London list too (19 in total); prior to the weekend, my London list was looking rather sad trailing behind my Sussex list by...

Well the weekend is virtually upon us now, and I have a big birding weekend planned, subject to my ability to get up early enough…
Tomorrow, it will be an early start getting the tube into central London then a train from Fenchurch Street to Purfleet, so that I can visit Rainham Marshes for the first time. I've been looking at the RSPB site and recent sitings have included cuckoo (which I'd love to see), common tern and curlew. I've also seen that the following birds are expected...
