A bit drab looking in this pic
Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are bright emerald or golden-green on the back and crown, with gray-white underparts. Males have a brilliant iridescent red throat
Habitat
They prefer habitats where there are a lot of flowers, such as fields, parks, backyards, and open clearings in forests. Ruby-throated hummingbirds use their long, needlelike bill to eat nectar from flowers such as salvia, trumpet creeper, bee balm, thistle petunia, and jewelweed.
Location
Yard bird, Myrtle Beach, SC
Date taken
June, 2022
Scientific name
Archilochus colubris
Equipment used
Nikon D90, SIGMA 80-400/4.5-5.6 DG OS. plus a 1+1/4 extender, hand held.
I think the "drab" effect is just that the green of his plumage is being outdone by the bright green of the foliage. Lovely shot!
