Battle of the Titans (Loxodonta africana)

It began with some good-natured high spirits but then suddenly the dust was flying, the ground shaking and these guys were at it in earnest. Look carefully at the image, the bull on the right had to parry a tusk with his trunk otherwise it would have enucleated his eye. As it was he got a hole pierced through his trunk for his trouble. The two broke off shortly after this and the bull on the right came straight for our vehicle so we had to reverse rather quickly.
