Black-tailed Jackrabbit

Found this one feeding on a dirt road by some new houses. I don't get to these areas all that often but I'd never seen one "sitting out" so openly - is this common behaviour in areas where new housing is extending into desert areas, does anyone know?
Habitat
Desert
Location
Near Joshua Tree NP, California
Date taken
20 June 2004
Equipment used
Canon 300D/ 100-400 L is
Some size of lugs on this bunny! I thought it was an Aardvark on the thumbnails. ;)

The place where they are building the houses was probably his territory and he's being forced out of it :( They are so cool looking. Great shot!
