European Robin

European Robin (Erithacus rubecula)

I've called this "European Robin", because when I started putting pictures on Flickr (and subsequently here) I wanted to use the most up to date names, to avoid ambiguity. The names are from the current edition of the Collins Guide. However, in real life I call this a Robin, like most people. To be consistent, I'm continuing the practice.

An odd thing about this one is the way that the primaries on the left wing have more or less done a disappearing act. Not sure why, but the RAW file is the same, so it's not an artifact of processing. Any thoughts welcome.

Thank you everyone for your kind remarks on my pictures.

What a lovely picture you've taken of this Robin - very well done. That is strange what's happened to his wing, isn't it.

A great spot by you all the same John .... nice work lad.
