Great Crested Grebe and Chick (podiceps cristatus)

I have become inordinately fond of this pair of grebes over the course of the last few months. They are so incredibly confiding. I was delighted to discover on Saturday that the fact they had hatched a couple of chicks made them no more shy. Sadly, I made a right pigs ear of the opportunity. I generally underestimated the DOF required to get the parent and chick both sharp at the same time. When I got that right I managed to blow out the face or neck of the parent or the top of the head of one or both of the chicks. This is one of the better attempts. Hopefully, next week they will be as accommodating and I can make a better fist of it.
