Himalayas-784 : Plum headed Parakeet group feeding in rain : Amazing Wildlife of India by Renu Tewari and Alok Tewari (Psittacula cyanocephala)

On that day ...

... during a break
in the Medical Camp
activity ...
Guru bhai Anil Sahni
mntioned about a
fabulous valley ...
... full of birds

... about 20 minutes
drive from the
camp site ...

Sky was already
overcast ... and it
was worsening by the
minute ...

... still ...
we decided to take
a chance ...

It had started to
drizzle ... accompanied
by hail ... some
of them close to

two inches in size

There in that setting
... we spotted this

colorful group ...

sitting on the bare
branches ... of a tree
growing on the boundary
of a field of near-ripe
wheat ...

... just as we were clicking
their images ... some of
them took-off ... hovered
over the crop and started
feeding ... while still
on wings ... much like
a hummer ...

... few of them plucked
an ear of wheat ... took
it to the perch and enjoyed
it leisurely ... in
the rain ...

This lovely behavior may be
seen in this video-clip ...
