House Finch

Sitting in my Crimson King maple tree.
Habitat
yards, woodlands
Location
Northwestern Pennsylvania
Date taken

Nice image, but if I may. This is a Purple finch for the following: 1) the red coloring in the head extends from crown to the nape. House finch the red would terminate at mid-crown; 2) House finch would have brown streaks along the flanks; Purple finch does not ( as your image indicates); 3) there is reddish coloring extending to the mantle and back, indicating Purple finch; House finches usually don't have red extending that far back. Good image. ;) :t:
