Lappet-faced Vulture (Torgos tracheliotos)

Lappet-faced Vulture. The king of vultures, showing who's boss at this carcass. This picture was taken at Maasai Mara.

Unfortunately, vultures in Kenya are at the risk of critical endangerment. This is because of conflicts between the Maasai and big cats. Vulture poisoning happens when a lion kills a Maasai's cattle and the Maasai poisons the cow in retaliation to kill the lions. Other scavengers like vultures and hyenas that eat the poisoned meat are also killed unintentionally.
Currently working on a tour whose portion of the proceeds will be used to support anti-poaching and Vulture conservationists.

Gawd.... that's a bit gory Mustafa;) He really has found himself a good meal there, hasn't he (so long as it's not poisoned of course!) What awful news you've given us my friend.
