meadow pipit

I think it is a meadow pipit
Hmmm.. where and when was it taken and have you any photos of its back/rump. It does have some characteristics of a first winter Red-throated Pipit - all white base colour to belly and flanks, what looks to be whitish mantle stripes, clear white edges to tertials, full thin eye ring - but I don't have enough experience of them to be sure, and Meadow pipits can look very pale and 'washed out' later in summer.

Might be worth posting on the ID forum.

You've a lovely picture there John, but I'm not too sure it is a mippit either.

The streaking just doesn't look right for one to me.

Agree with Mick, it might be an idea to link this picture in a thread in the ID forum and add to it any other images you might have.

Nice one in any case lad.

Smashing photograph , The bill and the legs are those of a Meadow pipit, but as Delia says you could confirm with the Id forum. Nevertheless its a fine image .
