I was doing my early morning birding rounds and decided to go round to Thornwick Pool, as i was walking down to the hide, i heard some Swallows and House Martins alarm calling an making a commotion, i looked in there general direction and saw the Merlin perched on a low rope fence post, i slowly walked towards it and got to within about 12/15 foot of the bird and rattled a few shots of , Funnily enough my second close encounter with a Merlin on my local patch that week!!
