painted bunting, female
I haven't been able to get out to the bird parks lately, so it's always good when the painted buntings come to you. This photo doesn't really do this pretty bird justice. If you look closely at this species, the females have many of the same colors of the males, but they are more subtle and understated. They are much more than a "pretty yellow bird" that comes by every spring. Looking forward to getting a better shot of this beauty in full sun.
