Pine Grosbeak (Pinicola enucleator)

I spent the past weekend up in Maine, for my first session of the year with the cameras, including a visit to a friend's feeders. He has had up to 20 Pine and many more Evening Grosbeaks...but it was quiet when I was there. However, the Pine Grosbeaks did briefly visit but mainly fed on the ground (which was 2-3 feet of snow). I managed a couple of images in very low light.

1/250, f8, ISO800, 80% frame. Flash @ -2/3 (with AV ETTL).

Such a contrast in colours. You have handled the exposure so very well but I do wish everyone would stop keeping the snow to themselves and send us some! Great shot Mark ;)

Same for me; I would like to get an image of this bird, as well. They are seldom posted. Goodi image. Great bird. :t: :t: :t:

Considering your conditions this turned out great. The eye is in very sharp focus which makes this picture better yet. I don't know if these bird range to Southwestern Ontario but I,m off to look. Thanks for the shot.

Nice work....now can you send me the snow.

From wet, grey cloud filled dank Salford England.
